Speaker Kelsey Balance
Kelsey Balance is Executive Vice President of Global Scripted Series at Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group. In this role, Balance is charged with building on the studio’s track record of creating premium scripted content with global appeal and developing series with emerging and diverse voices. She reports to Beatrice Springborn, President of UCP and Universal International Studios.
Balance oversees development of the studio’s expansive slate of award-winning scripted programming across a variety of global broadcast, streaming and cable platforms. The studio’s titles include International Emmy Award-winning Safe Harbour, Peabody and BAFTA-winning We Are Lady Parts, Netflix global hit One Day Emmy-nominated The Day of the Jackal,Apples Never Fall Far,The Survivors, Lockerbie: A Search for Truth and All Her Fault.
Additionally, she collaborates closely with Universal International Studios’ production companies – Working Title, Heyday, Carnival Films and Lark Productions – to package and support their scripted programming.
Prior to joining Universal International Studios in 2018, Balance was Head of Programming at NBCUniversal’s comedy streaming venture Seeso, where she had oversight of all originals, acquisitions and co-productions, including the critically acclaimed Flowers, Take My Wife and HarmonQuest. Before NBCUniversal, she was at Participant Media, where she worked on award-winning projects, such as Please Like Me, HitRecord On TV and Fortitude. Balance started her career at Universal Pictures before shifting her focus to television and the international marketplace.
Balance has a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is based in Los Angeles.
