Jinny Howe is Head of Scripted Series for the US and Canada at Netflix. In this role, Howe is a driving force behind Netflix’s most ambitious content overseeing the creative lifecycle of a rich and diverse slate that encompasses drama, comedy, family, young adult, and stand-up. Since joining Netflix in 2018, she has spearheaded culture-defining hits that have reshaped the global television landscape. Under her leadership, Netflix has launched a powerhouse lineup of award-winning series, including the multi-Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning phenomenon BEEF; the record-breaking, Emmy-nominated global sensation Bridgerton; and the critically acclaimed limited series MAID and Inventing Anna.
Howe’s strategic oversight and creative sensibility have led to a portfolio of Netflix’s most popular and beloved programs, ranging from high-stakes dramas like The Night Agent, The Diplomat, and The Lincoln Lawyer to breakout hits such as His & Hers, XO Kitty, Sirens, and Untamed. Her industry impact continues to expand with a highly anticipated upcoming slate of originals, featuring a bold retelling of Little House on the Prairie, the gripping limited series The Altruists starring Julia Garner, and the sports comedy The Hawk starring Will Ferrell.
A passionate advocate for storytelling that reflects a global perspective, Howe is also credited with cultivating elite creative partnerships through first-look and overall deals with the industry’s most prolific talent, while remaining a steadfast champion for emerging and underrepresented voices.
Prior to Netflix, Howe was Executive Vice President of Television at John Wells Productions. During her 13-year tenure, she was instrumental in the success of renowned series such as Shameless, Southland, and Animal Kingdom, and the feature film The Company Men. Earlier in her career, Howe worked in the talent division of Brillstein Entertainment Partners, where she honed her ability to identify and nurture world-class talent.
Having emigrated to the United States from South Korea at a young age, Howe is deeply committed to championing diverse perspectives that resonate with a global audience. An influential figure, she serves on the Television Academy Executive Committee and the Advisory Board for Korean American Leaders in Hollywood, and is an active member of the Hollywood Radio and Television Society. Her honors include The Hollywood Reporter's 100 Most Powerful Women in Entertainment and Variety's Power of Women and 120 Most Powerful Executives in Entertainment lists. Howe holds a B.A. in Theater, Film, and Television from UCLA.
