TELUS STORYHIVE BANFF Fellowship Program
Deadline for applications: Friday April 21, 2017
Accepting applications starting March 17, 2017
Winners will be notified by May 10th
TELUS STORYHIVE provides funding and training to filmmakers in British Columbia and Alberta to support compelling original storytelling. We support projects that reflect a diversity of voices, innovative ideas, alternative views, and feature local places and events in arts, culture, education and sport. The TELUS STORYHIVE BANFF Fellowship program is just one of the ways we provide access to training and production support for members of the community in BC and Alberta.
The TELUS STORYHIVE BANFF Fellowship Program is intended to encourage professional development in digital production by enabling emerging creative talent, including producers, writers and directors, to attend the BANFF World Media Festival. Fellowships are not intended for established professionals. Applicants with demonstrated interest or experience in making content for local television will be given special consideration.
The TELUS STORYHIVE BANFF fellowship program will include the following:
- A full festival registration, including admission to all seminars, workshops, feature interviews and screenings plus all official festival social events;
- Three nights accommodation;
- A travel stipend; and
- Market preparation support in conjunction with the National Screen Institute.
Meals and all other costs of attending the festival are the responsibility of the fellowship recipient.
Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants residing in British Columbia or Alberta. Each application will be judged according to the merits of the submitted materials, the applicant's strategy for maximizing opportunities at BANFF, and his or her financial need. Up to six fellowships will be awarded. Final decisions are at the sole discretion of TELUS.
All correspondence and inquiries regarding the TELUS STORYHIVE BANFF Fellowship Program should be addressed to the BANFF World Media Festival, which is responsible for the administration and adjudication of the fellowship. The application must be completed and submitted online no later than 5pm (EST) on Friday April 21, 2017. Successful applicants will be notified no later than May 10, 2017.
