Clelia Mountford

As co-founder of Merman with Sharon Horgan (CATASTROPHE), Clelia develops and produces a multitude of projects with a host of international talent.

Clelia has most recently executive produced the comedy drama series FRAYED (Sky One/ABC Australia) written by and starring Sarah Kendall, THIS WAY UP (Channel 4/HULU) written by Aisling Bea and starring Bea and Sharon Horgan, and the second series of MOTHERLAND (BBC Two). She also produced two series of the award-winning THERE SHE GOES (BBC 2) written by Shaun Pye and starring David Tennant and Jessica Hynes.

Further recent credits include Executive Producer on WOMEN ON THE VERGE, (W/RTE), created by Lorna Martin and Sharon Horgan and starring Kerry Condon, Eileen Walsh and Nina Sosanya; the late-night comedy entertainment pilot NEXT WEEK’S NEWS WITH DEBORAH FRANCES-WHITE, (Channel 4); both the pilot and subsequent series of MOTHERLAND, (BBC Two, Merman, Delightful), written by Graham and Helen Linehan, Sharon Horgan and Holly Walsh and starring Anna Maxwell Martin, Lucy Punch and Diane Morgan; Sky Arts URBAN MYTH ANDY & THE DONALD starring Anthony Atamanuik and Jack McBrayer; and MORGANA ROBINSON’S SUMMER SHORT (Sky Arts) written by Sharon Horgan which won a BAFTA TV Award in 2018 for Best Short Form Programme.

As Producer, Clelia has many high profile projects to her name including David Cross’s BLISS (Sky One) starring Stephen Mangan and Heather Graham and THE CIRCUIT (Channel 4) by Sharon Horgan and Dennis Kelly, starring Adeel Akhtar and Eva Birthistle.

Clelia also produced the third series of TODD MARGARET (IFC), starring David Cross, Will Arnett, Jack McBrayer and Sharon Horgan. Prior to Merman, Clelia produced the post-apocalyptic comedy COCKROACHES starring Jack Whitehall and Daniel Lawrence Taylor (ITV2). She devised and produced two series of the comedy drama adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s A YOUNG DOCTOR’S NOTEBOOK (Sky Arts) starring Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe. The show received huge critical acclaim and won record-breaking audiences for Sky Arts. Series 1 won the Broadcast Award for Best Multi-Channel Programme.

Clelia also includes in her Producer credits the Broadcast Award-nominated comedy drama series MR SLOANE by Robert B. Weide (director and EP of Curb Your Enthusiasm) starring Nick Frost and Olivia Colman for Sky Atlantic, in addition to two Little Crackers for Sky One: Caroline Quentin’s NUTCRACKER and Sharon Horgan’s THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS, which won the Outstanding Achievement Jury Prize for Best TV Short in the International 3D Awards, and was selected for the Los Angeles Comedy Festival.

As Head of Comedy at RDF, she executive produced two series of THE INCREASINGLY POOR DECISIONS OF TODD MARGARET for IFC and Channel 4. The series starred David Cross, Will Arnett, Spike Jonze, Sharon Horgan, Blake Harrison and Jon Hamm.

Clelia was Head of Radio and TV Script Associate at TalkbackThames for 8 years, starting there as assistant to Griff Rhys Jones. She began her career in theatre and radio, producing over 50 radio comedies and dramas for BBC Radio 4, 3 and 2 and assistant produced numerous no 1 theatre tours and West End shows.
