Born in Swansea, South Wales. Started work at Children’s BBC, then become a Script Editor and Storyliner at Granada in Manchester. Created the original Queer As Folk in 1999. Working with Red Productions, wrote The Second Coming, Bob & Rose, Mine All Mine and Casanova. Resurrected Doctor Who in 2005 and created spin-offs Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. Wrote Cucumber and Banana for Channel 4 in 2015, A Very English Scandal and Years and Years for BBC One, currently in post-production on Boys for Channel 4 and HBO Max.
