Speaker Javiera Balmaceda
Javiera Balmaceda is Amazon Studios’ Head of Originals for Latin America, Canada, and Australia, overseeing the development of all local original content in those territories. Since joining Prime Video in 2017, Javiera has served as the creative lead on a robust slate of series and films, including fan favorites De Viaje con los Derbez, Llaves, and Noticias de un Secuestro; El Presidente, the wildly popular FIFAGATE drama showrun by Armando Bo; Pan y Circo, the Emmy-winning political talk show hosted by Diego Luna; and most recently Argentina, 1985 — the Golden-Globe and Goya-winning, Oscar and BAFTAnominated film directed by Santiago Mitre and starring Ricardo Darin.
Over the course of her two decades the entertainment industry, Javiera has managed a range of content-related departments for various international media companies (most recently for HBO Latin America, where she served as the Director of Programming).
A native of Chile, Javiera holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University.
