Speaker David Way
David is responsible for the overall health of Great Pacific Media’s business, providing leadership to a creative culture striving for collaborative excellence. He oversees IP development, original content production, and strategic relations to grow a diverse slate of projects for the global marketplace.
Since joining GPM in 2015 he has led the creation of thirteen unscripted series, four documentaries, two podcasts, and recently GPM's first drama series and first MOW. As an independent producer David has created over 200 hours of unscripted series, ten documentaries, and special programming events for Discovery (Canada, USA), HGTV, W, Slice, Food Network, OLN, PBS, and NHK.
Previously as a network executive he oversaw 500+ hours of original production for OLN, Slice, Discovery Health, History, and TVO. David has won two Banff World Media Festival (Rocky) Awards, four Canadian Screen (Gemini) Awards, three Hot Docs International Documentary Festival Awards, and two Jules Verne Grand Prize awards. David trained as a molecular geneticist at McMaster University. His career spans from science consultant, to writer-director, host, series producer, development and network executive, and executive producer.
