One of the most exciting and in-demand young actors in the UK, Jack Rowan has taken the acting world by storm in the past couple of years.
Jack Rowan’s screen career blew up when the incredibly talented, and naturally gifted young actor from London was catapulted into the limelight as one of the most exciting breakout stars on TV. For his performance as Sam, the teenage psychopath leading the cast in C4’s ‘Born to Kill’, Jack received unanimously glowing reviews and has since been nominated for multiple leading actor awards, including a BAFTA Best Actor nomination; eventually taking home the BAFTA Cymru Best Actor award. The unsettling mini-series, which aired back in summer 2017, offered Jack his first major role.
It is now clear that Born to Kill was just the beginning. Rowan followed Born to Kill by immediately securing International profile, as he capped off a perfect 2017 being unveiled as new character Bonnie Gold in season 4 of worldwide smash Peaky Blinders, which aired on BBC2 and on Netflix US in early 2018. Jack reprised his role as Bonnie Gold with an explosive storyline in Peaky Blinders S5 at the end of 2019.
The former amateur boxer turned actor also netted the lead male role of Callum McGregor in the hugely successful BBC Drama Noughts and Crosses. Jack spent 6 months on location in South Africa for his biggest lead role to date.
Broadcast in the UK on primetime BBC1 in 2020 (with the rest of the world following), the adaptation of the celebrated Malorie Blackman was a worldwide hit. Following Noughts and Crosses, Jack jumped straight into his first lead role in a movie. Boys From County Hell premiered virtually at NYC’s Tribeca Festival in 2020 and will be released in the summer of 2021. It will also be released in the US in late April via AMC’s horror streamer, Shudder.
Rowan has also recently been announced as taking over from Taron Egerton as the voice of Moomintroll – lead character in the international Sky TV Hit animation Moominvalley. Release date tbc.
Rowan had previously starred in feature film, ‘Benjamin’ - Simon Amstell’s debut narrative feature as a director and writer – which generated superb reviews across the board for its portrayal of a young gay creative navigating new relationships, feelings and friendship groups.
At just 24 years of age, 2021 is already shaping up to be an even bigger year for this exceptional and versatile young actor with exciting new roles to be announced imminently.
