A prominent figure in the Quebec television industry from 1988 onward, Jocelyn Deschênes founded in 1997 SPHERE MEDIA PLUS, now part of Sphere Media. As a passionate producer always on the lookout for new series, Jocelyn Deschênes is constantly developing projects for the Quebec, Canadian and international television markets. With more than 30 dramas to his credit, Jocelyn Deschênes confirmed his status as a major producer with the adaptation in English of four of his flagship series, including Nouvelle Adresse (This Life) and 19-2, in addition to the pilot Isabel (adapted from drama Le Monde de Charlotte) for NBC.
Over the years, he has received 50 Gémeaux nominations for Best Television Series, winning the award 15 times. Sphere Media’s English adaptation of 19-2 was crowned Best Dramatic Series at the 2016 Canadian Screen Awards, and the series was nominated for a 2016 International Emmy® Award in the Best Drama Series category. More recently, he produced bold new medical drama Transplant for CTV/NBCU, an award-winning series about a Syrian refugee doctor, aired to critical acclaim and ratings success on both CTV and NBC. Transplant won TBI’s 2020 Content Innovation Award for Best Debut Drama Series, was announced as an honored by the Hollywood Bureau of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) for their annual Media Awards and stood out at 2021 Canadian Screen Awards, winning Best Drama Series, Best Direction, Drama Series and Best Writing, Drama Series. Second season is currently in production.
