Alison Brower is Insider's LA bureau chief, launching a new vertical centered on the business of entertainment. Previously, she was the deputy editor for arts and entertainment at the Los Angeles Times, where she spearheaded cultural and business coverage as well as investigative features on celebrities and longstanding L.A. institutions. From 2014-2019, as deputy editorial director at the Hollywood Reporter, she led entertainment and news coverage and was the architect of the magazine’s high-wattage power lists and other special projects. Before moving to Los Angeles in 2014, Brower was the founding editor-in-chief of Dr. Oz The Good Life at Hearst and worked in the editorial leadership of magazines including Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Redbook and Seventeen. As a writer and editor, she has contributed to publications from O: The Oprah Magazine to Popular Mechanics; she began her journalism career at Adweek. Brower grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Princeton University.
