Emmy®, Golden Globe, Writers Guild (WGA) and Directors Guild Award (DGA)–nominated writer, director and producer Greg Berlanti is the creative force behind some of the most inventive and acclaimed works in film and television. As of March 2021, he is producing nearly 20 television series through his Berlanti Productions, a record for most series produced by one producer at a given time.
Berlanti is perhaps best known as the executive producer and creative force behind The CW Network’s Arrow-verse of series based on DC characters, which launched with Arrow in 2012 and includes Batwoman, Black Lightning, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, DC’s Stargirl, The Flash, Supergirl and Superman & Lois. He is also executive producer of All American, Riverdale and the upcoming Kung Fu for The CW, Prodigal Son for FOX, Doom Patrol, The Flight Attendant, Titans, and the upcoming Green Lantern for HBO Max, and You for Netflix. He also executive produced the recently concluded Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for Netflix, as well as the unscripted docuseries EQUAL for HBO Max and Helter Skelter: An American Myth for EPIX.
Berlanti started in television as a staff writer on Dawson’s Creek, where he was promoted to showrunner in his second year on the series. Since then, Berlanti has served as creator, writer, and producer of series such as Everwood; Jack & Bobby; Brothers & Sisters; Eli Stone, for which he was nominated for a WGA award; Dirty, Sexy, Money; No Ordinary Family; The Mysteries of Laura; The Tomorrow People; and the limited event series Political Animals, for which he was nominated for Emmy, Golden Globe, WGA and DGA Awards. He also executive produced Blindspot, Deception, God Friended Me, Golden Boy, Katy Keene, and The Red Line, among others.
In feature films, Berlanti made his directorial debut in 2000 with The Broken Hearts Club. In 2018, he directed the critically acclaimed Love, Simon, an adaptation of the acclaimed novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, starring Nick Robinson. He previously co-wrote and produced the Warner Bros. action film Green Lantern and produced Pan under his Berlanti Productions banner. He also directed Life as We Know It, starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel, and served as the head writer for the 2015 Academy Awards® ceremony.
Berlanti resides in Los Angeles with his husband, son, and daughter.
