Max Micallef is Vice President, Nonfiction Programming for HISTORY. In this role, Micallef spearheads the development and production of some of HISTORY’s main nonfiction programming. He joined the network in December 2018, and is based in Los Angeles.
Among the HISTORY series he is Executive Producing is Assembly Required, which reunites Tim Allen and Richard Karn in a new competition series. The series spotlights the best and brightest builders from across the country, at their home workshops, as they compete to breathe new life into everyday household items in desperate need of fixing.
Micallef joined HISTORY from Discovery Channel where he worked alongside international and domestic producers to develop primetime series for the network and helped set the strategy for new projects. During his time with Discovery Channel, Micallef was an instrumental part of the team that developed or produced series including Finding Escobar’s Millions, Killing Fields, Amish Mafia, and Moonshiners. Prior to joining Discovery Channel, Micallef was a Production Assistant for Discovery Studios in Silver Spring, MD. While at Discovery Studios, he was responsible for pitching and developing projects for multiple networks.
Micallef holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Syracuse University where he majored in Broadcast Journalism and History with a minor in Political Science.
