Showrunner, writer, and director Nahnatchka Khan has become one of the most sought-after creators in film and television. Khan is the founder of her film and TV production company, Fierce Baby, which focuses on amplifying new voices and perspectives in both comedy and drama. In 2019, she made her feature directorial debut with the Netflix comedy Always Be My Maybe, starring Ali Wong and Randall Park. The film premiered to rave reviews and Netflix announced it was viewed by 32 million households in its first four weeks on the service. She has a multi-year, first-look feature deal with Netflix and has several projects in development to direct and produce for the streamer, including the romantic comedy Dial A for Aunties, based on Jesse Q. Sutanto’s highly anticipated upcoming novel of the same name.
Khan also has an exclusive overall deal with Universal Television to create, develop, write, supervise, and produce series projects for television. She’s currently serving as co-showrunner, creator, and executive producer on the new series Young Rock, a sitcom from NBC following the early years of Dwayne Johnson, for which she also directed the pilot. Additionally, Khan created and executive produced the long-running and award-winning television show Fresh Off the Boat and was the creator and executive producer of Don’t Trust the B---- In Apartment 23, which aired for two seasons on ABC.
