Speaker Samuel Bischoff
Samuel Bischoff is the Director of Policy at the Directors Guild of Canada, where he leads national policy and advocacy efforts on issues shaping the screen industry, including artificial intelligence, broadcasting regulation, copyright, and sustainability.
Trained in copyright and audiovisual law, he focuses on protecting the role of creative workers and ensuring that technological and regulatory change supports a sustainable future for film and television. He is actively engaged in major regulatory proceedings, including the implementation of Canada’s Online Streaming Act.
His work challenges assumptions about innovation, arguing that the future of storytelling should not be defined by technology alone, but by the conditions that govern it and the creators who shape it.
