Speaker Tassie Cameron
Tassie Cameron is an award-winning screenwriter and producer, is the co-founder of the Toronto-based independent production company Cameron Pictures, and is currently showrunner and executive producer on Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent (premiered on Citytv in February 2024 and in production on Season 3.)
Tassie Cameron was co-creator, co-showrunner and executive producer on the comedic cop series, Pretty Hard Cases, which ran for three seasons on CBC and Amazon. Prior to this, Tassie was the showrunner/co-showrunner and executive producer on Global/Lifetime's critically acclaimed trilogy Mary Kills People (Cameron Pictures Inc/eOne). She was also the creator, showrunner, and executive producer of ABC’s 2017 limited 10-part series Ten Days in the Valley (starring Kyra Sedgwick), and the co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner of the international hit series Rookie Blue, which ran for six seasons on Global and ABC.
Co-executive producer on the first season of CTV and CBS’s hit series Flashpoint, Tassie's other credits include Degrassi: The Next Generation, Cake, Would Be Kings, The Eleventh Hour, Tom Stone, Wild Roses, Fast Food High, Raising the Bar, and Working Title’s adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s The Robber Bride. Tassie was also an executive producer on CBC's two-season comedy series Little Dog, an executive producer on Nurses for Global/NBC, and an executive producer on Private Eyes, Jason Priestley’s hit PI series for Global.
Tassie’s numerous awards include: the 2005 Gemini Award for Best Writing in a Dramatic Series, WIFT-T’s 2009 Creative Excellence Award, the WGC’s 2011 Showrunner Award, the CSA’s 2015 Margaret Collier Award for Lifetime Achievement, and the CFC’s 2019 Award for Creative Excellence.
Tassie has an Honours BA in English from the University of Toronto, a Masters in Film from NYU, and is a proud graduate and board member of the Canadian Film Centre. She lives in Toronto with her daughter Sadie and her dog Alice.
