As VP of Drama Development for Sony Picture Television Studios, Ali Roland has played a key role in growing the studio’s slate by securing big IP, like the Hasbro game “Clue”, working on multiple projects based on Ben Macintyre’s acclaimed espionage novels, as well as identifying and developing original ideas, one of which recently sold to Apple.
Additionally, Ali has strengthened the studio’s relationship with talent, and was instrumental in landing a first look deal with Emmy-nominated Yvonne Orji, which she currently oversees on a day-to-day basis. In her role, Ali is also helping to spearhead SPT’s partnership with Sony Music in order to capitalize on the company’s talent deals to bring more music-related projects into development.
Prior to joining SPT, Ali served as VP of Original Content at Spectrum Originals, where she was closely involved in the development, production, and post-production on all of Spectrum Originals’ projects, including BAFTA nominated A Spy Among Friends starring Damian Lewis, Joe Pickett, and Emmy-nominated George and Tammy starring Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon.
