Julian Doucet

Creator, Writer and Executive Producer, The Lake

Julian Doucet is a bilingual screenwriter, playwright, director and actor.

He is the creator, showrunner and writer of The Lake, Amazon Prime’s first scripted Canadian Original series. The episodic comedy stars Jordan Gavaris, Julia Stiles and Madison Shamoun and launches on Prime Video in June 2022.

Doucet’s limited series St-Nickel (UNIS/Carte Blanche) premiered in June 2016. Television credits include Killjoys S2-5 (Syfy/Space/Temple Street) Bomb Girls S1 (Shaw/Muse/Back Alley). Doucet was a co-executive producer on Hudson and Rex S2 (Rogers/Shaftesbury). His feature script My Other Life was developed through NSI’s inaugural Script to Screen Program. He has developed projects for CBC, UnisTV and TV5 and producers Pier21, Blue Ice, Frantic Films, CCi, Aetios, Carte Blanche and
Attraction Images.

Selections of his plays Infoline, bonjour, Phae – a Trailer-Park Trashedy, Dustbunnies and You are Mine are published with Playwright’s Canada Press.

Doucet’s non-fiction writings have appeared in the Globe and Mail, Now Magazine, Ottawa Citizen, Montreal Gazette and CBC Radio.

Doucet graduated from the CFC’s Television Primetime program in 2010. He is also a graduate of Ryerson Theatre School and the University of Ottawa’s Département de Théâtre, and he has worked in English and French with many leading theatre companies.

As the voice of the National Capital’s Transit System, Doucet has a captive audience of half a million.
