An innovative business development program for women ready to launch or grow their own companies in the screen-based industries.
Supported by the Government of Canada’s Women Entrepreneurship Strategy, the BANFF Spark Accelerator for Women in the Business of Media offers training, mentorship, and access to potential strategic partners to women entrepreneurs in the screen-based media industry.
Over the course of the program, BANFF Spark will provide up to 200 selected candidates from Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia with an array of professional development and market access opportunities, including a tailored business development curriculum as well as full registration to the Banff World Media Festival (BANFF).
With a strong mandate to champion diversity at its core, the program is especially designed to empower women of colour, Indigenous women, women with disabilities, LGBTQ2S+ women, and non-binary individuals.
"We have learned so much, growing our small company. We met so many great contacts. We were also chosen to pitch our TV series during the pitch session and had several interested broadcasters and distributors reach out to us after." Georgina Lopez, Lopii Productions
"My mentor is a brilliant dynamo, and thanks to her help we secured our first network deal for our investigative true crime podcast! We’ve also secured funding for another feature doc and will be filming in spring/summer 2021." Emilia King, Pink Moon Studio
"I especially benefited from the wonderful people and flexible program orientation. The workshop content was exceptional in the many facets of building a successful business… The mentor program materially helped me with my domestic and international distribution strategy for my recently completed film." Emma Catalfamo, Dancing Caribou Productions
