Jordan Gavaris

Actor, The Lake

Jordan Gavaris is best known for his starring role in BBC America's critically acclaimed series Orphan Black opposite Tatiana Maslany. His breakout portrayal of 'Felix Dawkins,' Maslany's dry-witted foster brother, earned him high praise from critics and fans alike, as well as two consecutive Canadian Screen Award nominations and one win for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He was also the fan-voted winner of Entertainment Weekly's 2014 EWwy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama.

Born and raised in Southern Ontario, Canada, Gavaris made his film debut while still in high school when cast in the lead role of the independent feature film 45 RPM. Written and directed by David Schultz, the film tells the story of 'Parry Tender,' a crestfallen boy who wants nothing more than to escape the whispers and stares of the small northern town of Goose Lake, and retreat to New York City. The film, and Gavaris' performance, in particular, were both met with critical praise.

Two years, an animated series and guest work on the cult series Degrassi: The Next Generation later, Gavaris was cast as one of the three leads in Cartoon Network's first live-action series Unnatural History. Once again, Gavaris was a standout, and the role earned him an award from Playback Magazine and The Canadian Film and Television Hall of Fame as one of 2010's 'Top Ten to Watch.'

Gavaris' film credits include supporting roles in Gus Van Sant's 'Palme D'or contender The Sea of Trees opposite Matthew McConaughey and the independent feature drama Maya Dardel opposite Academy Award nominee Lena Olin. In television, Gavaris has starred alongside Rachel Bilson and Eddie Cibrian in the ABC series Take Two, in Funny or Die's digital comedy The Coop, and in Freeform's Love In The Time of Corona. He can be seen next in a guest role on Hulu's PEN15.

Gavaris is based in Los Angeles.

Speaking on: Master Class: The Lake

At the Banff Media Festival, we met with Netflix and took a ride up Sulphur Mountain on the gondola. That’s where we made the pitch.
