With over 20 years of experience across the industry, Rachel Nelson spearheads a diverse portfolio of Scripted, Factual, and Kids content as Vice President of Original Content at Corus Entertainment. In this role, Rachel leads strategies for commissioning and developing highly rated series, and continuously demonstrates a devotion to empower and inspire world-class talent in an ever-evolving market.
Rachel manages a team overseeing original content for Corus’ flagship channels including Global, W, Showcase, History, Adult Swim and as well, daily entertainment news show ET Canada. With a passion for character-first storytelling, she has also grown content in the Corus Studios catalogue, which has garnered interest both domestically and worldwide.
Over the years, Rachel has worked closely with the independent production community, and demonstrates an exceptional ability to discover the next generation of content creators. She has been a key leader in the production of hit Scripted series such as Family Law, Mary Kills People, Private Eyes, Departure, Vikings and Rookie Blue, as well as internationally recognized Unscripted content including Rust Valley Restorers, Lost Car Rescue, and Big Timber – to name a few.
Surrounded by deep relationships in the media space, Rachel has left an indelible mark on dozens of award-winning, top-rated shows in Canada, the U.S., and abroad.
