Stu Stone

Co-Creator

5'7 Films

Stu Stone is a filmmaker, producer, and actor who began his career as a child and built an impressive list of film and television credits. He is best known for voicing Ralphie in the beloved animated series The Magic School Bus and for appearing in films such as Donnie Darko and The Boys Club. Stone later expanded into music and television, co-creating the MTV series Blowin' Up with Jamie Kennedy, which led to the duo signing a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records. Transitioning behind the camera, Stone has since produced, written, and directed across a wide range of television and film projects. His credits include work on Criss Angel Believe, Prank My Parents for Bunim/Murray Productions and the acclaimed docuseries Dark Side of the Ring for Vice Media. Stone is also considered an early pioneer in podcasting and live streaming, helping shape the space during its formative years. Most notably, he is the co-founder of 5'7 Films, which he launched with Adam Rodness. Together they have built a growing slate of horror, comedy, documentary, hybrid television, and feature film projects. As a director, Stone’s work includes the Netflix documentary Jack of All Trades, as well as Faking a Murderer and Don't F**k With Ghosts.

At the Banff Media Festival, we met with Netflix and took a ride up Sulphur Mountain on the gondola. That’s where we made the pitch.
