Speaker AJ Mendez
AJ Mendez is an accomplished creative executive and producer with a passion for championing bold storytelling and fresh voices. As SVP of Originals at Piller/Segan, she has been instrumental in shaping the company’s slate for over 15 years, playing a key role in discovering and nurturing emerging talent, and helping writers evolve into series creators and showrunners.
AJ currently serves as Co-Executive Producer on the breakout hit Wild Cards (CBC/The CW, Amazon Prime Video) and previously produced the long-running fan-favorite Private Eyes (and its forthcoming spinoff Private Eyes: West Coast), and the Lifetime fantasy thriller Sea Change. Her development sensibility is rooted in strong character, emotional authenticity, and genre storytelling with broad appeal.
Known for her collaborative spirit, keen editorial eye, and deep understanding of the creative process, AJ is a trusted partner to writers and creators across all stages of development and production.
She is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and lives in Los Angeles with her husband, their daughter, and their French bulldog.
