With over twelve years of experience in managing direct funding programs for the creative sector in British Columbia (BC), Erika Kumar has a passion for supporting talent, building community, and creating jobs. Throughout her career Erika has administered grants to film, television, and digital media producers; developed internship programs, arranged sponsorships with premiere film festivals, organized international trade missions, negotiated partnerships with broadcasters and federal funding agencies, and created initiatives that prioritize under-represented groups. She has both moderated and participated as a juror on numerous peer juries for funding programs in BC. Whether moderating or adjudicating, equity, diversity, and inclusion are paramount to her decision-making process.
Erika graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Simon Fraser University, she has an Entertainment Administration Certificate from the University of British Columbia, and a Certificate in Entertainment Law from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University.
Outside of business hours, Erika contributes to the creative sector by speaking on panels, attending networking events, and providing presentations to motion picture industry organizations. She currently lives and works in Vancouver, BC on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.
