Melanie is a member of Minegoziibe Anishinabe fka Pine Creek First Nation and splits her time between Winnipeg and Toronto, Canada. She is a Senior Director for Warner Bros. Discovery and oversees the Canadian initiatives and investments for underrepresented talent within the screen-based industries.
She was previously a network executive at APTN and then CBC, where she managed scripted projects in development and production and fielded thousands of pitches on behalf of the network.
Outside of her daily work at WBD, Melanie serves as the Chair for imagineNATIVE Film and Media Arts Festival, and is on the board of the National Screen Institute, and Cousin Collective. She is also on the Indigenous Advisory Board for TIFF.
She recently produced a scripted short film on 16mm titled ANYWHERE written and directed by Evelyn Pakinewatik.
In all avenues she aims to connect talent to opportunity to show the world the rich tapestry of the underrepresented storytelling community.
