Mike Omelus

APTN Aboriginal Peoples Television Network Inc.

Mike Omelus is executive director of content and strategy for APTN, the world’s first national Indigenous broadcaster. This role has Mike overseeing the network’s programming, scheduling and content creation departments as well as the commissioning of original programming in English, French and up to 17 Indigenous languages annually.

Prior to APTN, Mike was vice-president of national news and newsgathering for Canada’s Global News, where he served on the senior leadership teams of both Shaw Communications and Corus Entertainment. He also was executive producer for Canada’s main business channel, now BNN-Bloomberg, and held a variety of senior roles at The Canadian Press news agency.
