Brian Tannenbaum

Head, Roku Originals

Roku

Brian Tannenbaum is Head of Originals, Roku Media, where he leads all aspects of original programming for The Roku Channel, including scripted series, unscripted series, and feature films. A key member of the team behind the launch of the Roku Originals banner, he manages Roku’s content strategy across all original series commissions and development. From award-winning scripted entertainment, including WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story and Die Hart and breakout unscripted titles, like The Great American Baking Show and Meet Me in Paris, Roku Originals give viewers free access to bold, fresh entertainment from the biggest names in Hollywood.

Tannenbaum was one of the inaugural leaders of the Roku Originals team. He played a key role in constructing The Roku Channel’s go-to-market content strategy for original content, building up the Roku Originals programming portfolio, and creating the entire infrastructure of the Roku Originals team from the ground up. Since the launch of Roku Originals in May 2021, Roku has released over 100 original series across scripted and unscripted content. Brian oversaw the launch of most of these titles and has established relationships between Roku and some of Hollywood’s most reputable talent including Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Saldaña, Jessica Alba, Connie Britton, Kevin Hart, and more.

Prior to joining Roku, Tannenbaum led Alternative and Unscripted programming for the short-form streaming service Quibi, managing a slate of more than 50 television titles. Tannenbaum got his start in the entertainment industry at Lionsgate, where he last served as Senior Vice President of Creative and Business Affairs, Alternative Programming. During his tenure, he guided the development and production of series for Lionsgate’s fast-growing alternative television business including Kevin Hart: What the Fit (YouTube), Selling Sunset (Netflix), as well as You Kiddin’ Me (Facebook Watch), which he executive produced alongside Kim Kardashian West. Combining the responsibilities of a creative and business affairs executive, he also oversaw and negotiated all unscripted network agreements across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms on behalf of the studio.

Tannenbaum is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.
