Adam Steinman is President and founder of Mount Royal Films LLC, A Global TV and Film Format Lab based in Los Angeles. He is currently on a multi-year overall deal with a major media and entertainment conglomerate (details soon to be announced). Steinman is focused on creating and identifying new formats for broadcast television, streaming, and cable both in the US and internationally. Adam and Mount Royal Films are engaging in co-productions, co-development, format acquisition and sales, strategic global partnerships, and original IP creation.
From 2010 to 2023, Steinman served as Vice President, Creative, Format, Development & Sales at Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP). During his WB tenure, Steinman has played an integral role in the development, acquisition, and international roll-out of Impractical Jokers, The Bachelor, Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, Hello Goodbye, America’s Best Dance Crew, Who Do You Think You Are?, First Dates, Back In Time For Dinner, The Gift, Ellen's Game Of Games, Little Big Shots, and True Story and The Wheel for NBC.
In 2019, Steinman identified and acquired the record-breaking Korean hit series, Sky Castle, for WBTV and Berlanti Productions. In 2020, he identified the hit Israeli drama, DUMB, which was acquired by WBITVP for multiple European territories. Steinman was instrumental in facilitating the multi-year CJENM/Warner Horizon first-look unscripted deal, announced in October 2020. In 2020, he acquired the global rights to the short-form CBC Gem digital series from Canada, How To Buy A Baby, which became a long-form ratings hit in 2021 from WB Sweden for Discovery +. It has been renewed for a second season in Sweden premiering in late 2023. It is now being adapted for Quebecois audiences as a French language series for a major national streamer. In 2021, Steinman identified the Thai musical game format, The Wall Duet, which was then adapted by WBITVP Netherlands for RTL. The local Dutch version, Secret Duets, premiered to one million viewers and an impressive 22% share in primetime and has been commissioned for a 2nd season.
On the scripted side, he has been responsible for identifying two new hit Korean dramas now optioned at WBTV, and a first-look scripted deal with a major Korean broadcaster. In summer 2022, Steinman identified and acquired an edgy Australian/Canadian hit comedy, Sans Rendezvous from SRC which is now being adapted as a US remake. For WB, he spearheaded the successful WB/CBC Canada Format Incubator which produced the series, Under New Management with two seasons in 2018. In 2020, the second WB/CBC format incubator resulted in the competition reality format, YOU GOT THIS!. Quickly commissioned to series by TVNZ in New Zealand receiving top ratings. In 2021 it aired as a primetime series in Germany for Sat One. He was instrumental in managing the multi-year TV Asahi co-development deal, and also helped develop and adapt the RTE Format Farm winner, “The Hit”, which sold to seven territories including Netherlands, China, and Scandi.
