Margaret Mary Murray

Margaret Mary Murray is from the Isle of Lewis in Scotland.  She is a native Gaelic speaker and a Celtic Studies (Hons) graduate of the University of Glasgow.  She has worked in the BBC for over 30 years in a range of production and leadership roles.  She has an extensive track record of delivering creative excellence to audiences having honed her skills in all areas of broadcasting and production – radio, television, online and digital and across many genres including drama, documentary, learning, news and current affairs.  An editorial and strategic leader who has delivered award winning content and a commissioner who has partnered to launch and run a TV channel, BBC ALBA, a national radio service, BBC Radio nan Gaidheal, and a range of digital services in the Gaelic language.  She has collaborated with producers across the BBC, with independent production companies in the UK and internationally as well as with academic and cultural institutions to create and deliver ground-breaking alliances and content.  Margaret Mary is a member of BBC Scotland’s Executive Team and leads on diversity and inclusion for the BBC in Scotland.

At the Banff Media Festival, we met with Netflix and took a ride up Sulphur Mountain on the gondola. That’s where we made the pitch.
