Literary manager and producer, Jeff Aghassi began his career in the film and television industry as a location manager and scout.
Jeff later transitioned into agenting under the guidance of the highly regarded literary agent, Lynn Pleshette. While with her, he contributed to the sale of such notable works as Cold Mountain, Memoirs of a Geisha, Brokeback Mountain, and The Hoax. He left The Lynn Pleshette Agency to head up the feature film/MOW and Book-to-Film division of The Alpern Group.
Jeff began working as an independent literary manager and producer in the summer of 2007. He represents a wide range of talent, including directors, screenwriters, creator/showrunners, non-scripted/documentary as well as novelists and publishers. Client projects range for preschool series animation and television movies, to feature films and live-action scripted and documentary series. Jeff Executive Produced the multi-part award-winning documentary series Sports On Fire which aired on HBO/Bell Media in Canada and on Netflix around the world. Noted client David Seidler won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for The King’s Speech, which went on to win Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor awards. Jeff is currently Executive Producing The Games of 1940, and Edge of the World with Seidler, among other projects. Jeff is partnered with Morgan Freeman’s Revelations Entertainment on a multi-part documentary series with director Sheldon Wilson. He has several scripted television series in various stages of development.
A key focal point of his business is the development of strategic alliances with talent agencies, management companies and the various media outlets including film studios, networks & cable, on-line content providers, including international productions and co-productions. Jeff is a member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.
